UPDATE: The card is finished. It will shortly be in the mail, although it won't get to Libya before next month (gotta love the Pony Express, uh, I mean, USPS!). The "fusion card" will be his family's Eid card, because I got a bit carried away with Prismacolor markers and tissue paper on the birthday card. My bad... when the creative process starts with me, it continues until I have a final product I'm happy with.
Every year, I try to send my bestest buddy Akram a card for his birthday. Some years are more creative than others. This year will be a fusion of things-- of cardstock paper, of fabric, of thread (I'm going to use my sewing machine and do some of its more interesting embroidery stitches), of markers, of colored pencils, of crayons... and because I'm a bit anal about planning things (it's a Type A characteristic), I'm also sketching the layout with a charcoal pencil (which is THE ONLY way to do something, LOL). Will post it when I have it done.
