What I'd like to see...

Now that the market is more open to the world than it was during the decades of dictatorship, I'd like to see more Libyan exports of traditional handicrafts (see link below to see what I mean) to the United States and other parts of the West.

This is what I'm referring to-- http://www.temehu.com/crafts.htm and http://www.temehu.com/berber-jewellery-and-crafts.htm -- and also, for a description of what exists but isn't yet exported (to my knowledge), http://www.explorelibya.org/country/arts.html . Also, food items like olive oil (which Libya is reportedly wanting to export more of, see http://www.oliveoiltimes.com/olive-oil-business/africa-middle-east/libya-wants-to-export-more-olive-oil/31989).

Many other countries in the region (Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, the KSA, the UAE, among others) export their crafts, to high success. Personally, I think it's high time that Libya joins the world market in this aspect. I know there's talented craftsmen out there (like my bestest buddy's older brother, who's a goldsmith), I know there's an untapped market here in the West for it. So why not, and why not now? It was impossible three years ago, but today, it's all possible in the "new" Libya.

I guess maybe I should enter the import/export business myself, eh?

As a parting shot (LOL), here's a blog I'd love to publicize, Libyan Food-- http://libyanfood.blogspot.com/ -- Libyan cuisine in all its glory. It features step by step instructions on how to prepare the food, as well as pictures that have my stomach growling (and me wanting to head to the kitchen at 10:30 pm).
