"If you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes." --Said, in an ironic tone, by everyone who has ever lived in the Pacific Northwest. Literally, today has been up and down-- rainy, bursts of sun, rainy again, wind along with the rain... a very blustery, Winnie-the-Pooh sort of day.
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
"A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks, he becomes."
"An eye for an eye, and pretty soon the whole world is blind"
"I am prepared to die, but there is no cause for which I am prepared to kill"
"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win."
"There is more to life than increasing its speed."
-All quotes from one of the wisest men in history, Mahatma Gandhi. His example of "peaceful resistance" has been utilized countless other times by many other groups around the world since then, including by the civil rights movement in the United States.
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." --Ronald Reagan. A man, that while ordering terrorist actions, was not without his comic moments. Sadly, he was right. The actions of the federal government post-Hurricane Katrina were a travesty... and showcased what is wrong with American government today-- "bureaucracy."
"Sex and creativity are often seen by dictators as subversive activities." -Erica Jong
"A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions."
"The young man knows the rules, but the old man knows the exceptions."
"Old age is fifteen years older than I am."
-Oliver Wendell Holmes
"Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, and pretty soon, you're doing the impossible" --St. Francis of Assisi
"Peace begins with a smile."
"Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love."
"Intense love does not measure, it just gives."
"Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand."
"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
-All quotes from Bl.Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who will quite likely be canonized ('made a saint') before very long. This humble woman's ministry of love and charity is one that we should all try to emulate. Only then can we ever hope to have a lasting, enduring peace.
"Do you love your creator? Love your fellow-beings first."
"God enjoins you to treat women well, for they are your mothers, daughters, aunts"
"Women are the twin halves of men"
"The rights of women are sacred. See that women are maintained in the rights assigned to them."
"Whoever doeth good to girls, it will be a curtain to him from hell-fire."
"Feed the hungry and visit a sick person, and free the captive, if he be unjustly confined. Assist any person oppressed, whether Muslim or non-Muslim"
"Wealth, properly employed, is a blessing; and a man may lawfully endeavor to increase it by honest means."
-All quotes of the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh. To anyone who attacks Muslims for being misogynistic towards women, please, read the sunnahs. Read the hadiths. Read the Qu'ran. Talk to everyday Muslims-- and you will see that a beautiful, peaceful faith, has been hijacked, literally, by the actions of some who are proclaiming to uphold a faith that they're really destroying from within.

Does anyone else have any quotes that they find especially memorable, or especially uplifting? Feel free to add them in the comments section. Unless of course they're "I think you need a deep psychological evaluation." Then I have one more to add for you, and like minded individuals, "If being sane is thinking there's something wrong with being different, I'd rather be completely fucking mental." -Angelina Jolie, American actress, mother of six, worldwide philanthropist and humanitarian, and UN Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR.
