Okay, this is probably one of those posts I shouldn't do during Ramadan. Because it's just about 1 pm, and IF I was fasting (which I'm not), I'd have several hours before I could break my fast. I'm sitting here in Glendale, CA, pondering WHERE and WHAT I should get for lunch. I should've stopped at Ralph's, but, lazy.
Quite frankly, the White Truffle Mac and Cheese is winning out, but the Grilled Cheese sandwich is a close second. Along with a glass of lemonade, all appropriately enough, from a place called Lemonade. If I combined the three, I'd pretty much be in Heaven. Because I'd totes die from the carb crash, LOL.
My sweet tooth says Sprinkles, but my ewwwwwwwwwwww side is still reeling from the fact that they apparently had a rodent infestation a few weeks ago. Still doesn't change the fact that I'm seriously coveting a good cupcake right about now. See UPDATE, below.
And then there's Sugarfina, with all their wonderful delightful treats (albeit more expensive). My Mom's birthday IS on the 28th, so I could always pop in for some Rose roses for her... and end with a bunch of other things, like those Cuba Libre gummies that happen to taste like rum and coke (which happens to be one of my favorite drinks). Will probably do this, even though my older sister hasn't gotten back to me on whether or not Mutterl would enjoy them. Chances are, she would.
If there was a "good" place nearby, I'd LOVE some plov and polmeini. But alas, the nearest Russian place is in Los Angeles, and it's closed on Mondays anyways.
Or a good schnitzel, but I'm German enough to be damn picky, and know that the best schnitzel... isn't found in Glendale.
Armenian food, yes. If you have something to throw, happen to do so, and it hits someone, chances are, they're Armenian if you're in Glendale. There's about 10 racist jokes I could now tell, but I'll be super classy and save those for text messages and Facebook Messenger. I will, say, though, that Armenian men, for the most part, need to have their minds doused with soap or be drowned in holy water, because the way they look at women, wellllllllll, makes me want to wear a burqa.
Or maybe Barnes and Noble cafe... though it's not very good, and I'll hate myself in a little while. Because, heartburn. Gee, thanks, Dad, for the acid reflux. Me and my brother BOTH love you for it.
There's The Halal Guys, just up the street, but if I'm gonna do that, I may as well wait and get back to Zankou Chicken in Pasadena (or even go up to Burbank), which is about the same, and I'm sort of in love with their garlic sauce. And by that, I mean I'd eat it by the spoonful (and may have done just that). My favorite condiment is Majestic Garlic which, like the Smoked Paprika I mention every other blog post, I put on damn near everything. By the way, if anyone has a good "toum" recipe, I WANT IT.
I think there's a Chipotle not too far from here, which is also a possibility. There's a couple of Panda Express locations at the Glendale Galleria, and it's not too bad of a walk.
Even in THESE shoes... which aren't the stilettos, but also aren't real comfy for walking more than a quarter mile.
And now, I'm REALLY hungry. MUST. EAT.
UPDATE: My "ewwwwwwwwwww side" got over it. It was ONE RAT. And besides, lots of places have had issues with rats and have been JUST FINE. 😜. I got a Pineapple Upside Down Cake cupcake, one of their seasonal offerings, and yes... it was good. Willpower was waiting a half hour to devour it. Greater willpower would be buying another to savor with my Lebanese better half, who's at work for another couple of hours yet.
But as for lunch... Potato Corner and a kid's meal (with fries, a drink, and chicken strips) won out. Potatoes always seem to (apparently, my Irish side is strong, but it could be the Dutch side, because that's a cash crop in Friesland as well).

Lunch: Garlic/Parmesan/Sour Cream & Onion fries from Potato Corner, chicken strips, BBQ sauce.
And a Dr. Pepper (not pictured).

What is hiding in this bag (above and below)?
... a Sprinkles Pineapple Upside Down (cake) Cupcake. Yes, it was delicious. It's one of their seasonal flavors. Willpower allowed me to wait 15 minutes before devouring it. True willpower would be buying a second one for my dear hubby, and waiting until he gets off of work. Which, welllllllllllll... me, my metabolism, and cupcakes REALLY like each other. Its moments of existence could be measured in seconds.
