But then, I would. I'm sort of a "nerd" or "geek" when it comes to flora and fauna. Animal Poisons in Libya.
I am (probably) enough of an idiot to go looking for all of these "creatures that God hath made" someday. Hey, you're looking at someone who LOOKED FOR black widow spiders once she saw her first one! And then found not just black widows on her patio, but brown widows (the "more deadly" yet "less dangerous" African cousin to the "less deadly" yet "more dangerous" black widow-- not telling the 500 racist jokes in that one). And who, speaking hypothetically, asked a Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy overseeing a work detail at a local park where one might find rattlesnakes 'round these parts. Apparently... in the Foothills north of Azusa. And if I was to get bit, the hospitals have been forewarned. But luckily I'm close by Loma Linda Medical Center (71 km, give or take, which is less than a half hour the way I drive), where Dr. Sean Bush of Discovery Channel fame is in residence.
Here's hoping the hospitals in Libya are well-stocked with antivenom. I may yet need it. I'm 33, I could live to be well into my 90's if my familial history is any indicator. And you can bet the family farm I'll still be "feisty" then. Never cross Irish and English with Dutch and German. You have a hot-tempered, stubbornly practical woman who will think up damn inventive revenge schemes... for fun.
One problem with the link-- the Mediterranean black widow is NOT a recluse species. It's Lactrodectus tredecimguttatus-- NOT a Loxosceles (rufescens) species. Two damn different spiders, yeesh.
