Crafty, fun, and iman

I stumbled across a fellow Blogger's blog, For the Love of Islam, after performing a simple Google search on how to make dhikr beads (which is something I want to do for the mother of the man that I care for more than all other men on this planet, save for my father, who still trumps him)-- http://fortheloveofislam12.blogspot.com/2010/05/how-to-make-your-own-dhikr-beads.html -- it truly inspires me that this blog author is a TEENAGER OF 13 or 14! Wow is all I can say.

Another site, this time predominately geared towards women, is this site, on how to make an Al Amira style hijab scarf. http://www.ehow.com/how_12084968_make-amira-scarf.html . Quite frankly, I prefer the look of an Al Amira to most traditional scarves. This pattern can, of course, be modified to make an Al Amira hijab for a doll, to give to the little princess in your life. I am, with the help of a friend (Amanda Odeh), and with a few other sources (the eHow guide, as well as the book, "The International Wardrobe for Dolls" by Joan Hinds), preparing a guide on "How to Make Hijab and Abaya for Dolls." I will post it here in an  when I have it done, in the hopes that those who see it will consider making hijab and abaya for gifts for their friends, family, and others in their lives, for occasions such as Eid al-Fitr, Mawlid Al Nabi, or "just because."

Be good to one another... and to the world. Gruss Gott!

P.S. I need to get back to sleep for a couple hours, because I have a volunteer project with my work place (as part of Home Depot store 4725's Team Depot), and it's bound to be relatively exhausting, yet quite fun at the same time. We're helping out the neighboring community of Cathlamet, WA, with their community garden, which is something I can definitely get excited about. Last year, following the loss of my Alex, I lived in this small (650 people) town, and saw the potential of their community garden. My own city, Longview, has a VERY nice community garden, as well as a garden program that's been started in the local schools. THIS year, Team Depot will be stepping up and making this garden look and be totally awesome for the people of Cathlamet and Wahkiakum County, WA.
