I had wondered, briefly, what the "new" national anthem of Libya was going to be, considering that after 1969, it was changed from what it had been under the years of King Idris. Well, after pondering that question briefly, and also performing a brief Google search, I found out. The subject says it all, "the old becomes new." What WAS the national anthem of Libya from 1951 to 1969 is once again the national anthem of Libya as of 2011. http://www.nationalanthems.info/ly.htm

As of the latest information I've been able to find (on Wikipedia), only one Libyan athlete, a marathon runner, is scheduled to compete. And they REALLY need to do something about that "first verse of the national anthem" on there (rolled eyes).

Well I think I do , but lets hope that there isn't a certain word thats in there thats making you say that .
I will say one thing: I'm American. Born and raised. Almost thirty one years here on the planet, and I've only rarely left the US. And then mainly within the Western Hemisphere (except that one time...). My ancestry is Dutch/German/English on my Dad's side of the family, and English/Scottish/Irish on my Mom's. I speak French and English fluently, and "enough" Italian and Spanish to communicate in a basic fashion. I do know SOME words in German and Dutch, but probably only due to their similarities with my native tongue. I can read them better than I can speak them (especially German).
I barely know ANY words in ANY dialect in Arabic, although I WILL catch the occasional word that I DO know. So I have basically NO idea what was said here, by you, to me. Please translate it for me... or I WILL ask another. And if it's something crude or vulgar in regards to myself that you would not say to your mother, grandmother, father, grandfather, assembled aunts, uncles, cousins, and the whole rest of the tribe, all three hundred of them, then consider yourself admonished. And if you WOULD say something like that, WOW. There are words to describe you, but I'm sure I'm much too polite to use them. LOL.
FYI, I find nothing wrong with any of the verses of either anthem. I do know that due to the enormous constraints placed upon the musicians recording the album (every country's national anthem must be under a minute and a half), parts of the Libyan national anthem was excised when it was recorded for the 2012 Olympics. Both times. Because otherwise, the anthem would have fallen outside of the "allowable" time frame. Full versions of both anthems are of course available on Youtube.
